Visionary expertise on humantiy in workplaces

Let’s usher in a new era of what it means to be human at work.

I founded heyHUMANTIS as a refreshing alternative to the typical reactive and siloed approach to HR. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of fabulous HR professionals out there doing really great work. Collectively however, there is a need to get all folks thinking, being and feeling humanity at work.

With over two decades of experience helping organizations get damn good at all things HR, I saw the opportunity to improve HR outcomes by refocusing on the humans impacted by human resources decisions.

I believe humanity at work is a fundamental human right. And my thinking is that humans (that is all employees regardless of title) are social social systems within other social systems. I believe by building intentional connections with yourself and colleagues while understanding the complexity of social systems is the best path to living with and on purpose.

At heyHUMANTIS, I believe that everything is connected when it comes to being human in the workplace. By first considering the needs of each individual, then the team, and finally the broader organinzation, I can help you build habits and processes that together serve as the lifeblood of a successful team: honouring and respecting individuality.

A “keeping it real” approach to bringing humanity to work

I assess outcomes

I look to create sustainable change that fits and strengthens your social system (aka - organization) while still ensuring objectives are met.

I flip things upside down

Instead of chasing corporate goals, I start by getting to know entire teams and learning how you work together to get stuff done.

I work with everyone

Most organizations focus on job titles, but I think that anyone who wants to better themselves and their workplace should have the chance.

My mission

To help create a world where humanity exists in workplaces and communities, and shows up as unwavering respect, acknowledgement, and recognition of human rights.

My working style is…

  • We will co-create action plans and strategies; I’m in lockstep with you the entire way.

  • We’re a true one-stop shop. From orgnaizational behaviour and culture, to Diversity-Equity-Inclusion to HR Administration I cover all “human-related work” .

  • I don’t wait for your existing social systems elements to hit the fan. Instead I’ll help you get (and stay!) one step ahead.

  • From big picture to due diligence. I review legislation, jurisprudence, labour codes, and more to set you up for real success.

  • I get it—and have pretty much seen it all. I’m prepared to meet you exactly where you are, and put your team’s needs first.

  • I honour diversity, choose inclusion, and embrace belonging—inside and outside of the workplace.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Hi, I’m Jodi!

I’m an intersectional woman of colour (Punjabi and raised in the Sikh faith) with she/her pronouns. I am also a first-generation Canadian who grew up on the traditional ancestral unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations—what’s known today as Vancouver.

Where I thrive…

I’ve spent 20+ years in the public sector as an HR Generalist, Manager, and Senior Advisor, as well as a not-for-profit board member. In other words, I’ve leaned in on strategic planning, project execution, coaching, training, and mentorship across any & all human-related work.

My superpowers include being a thoughtful communicator and synthesizer of complex ideas. I also have a pretty good sense of humour and a down-to-earth vibe.

In a past life, I was a fashion and jewellery designer—and I still put my creativity to use today as I help clients work through a variety of People & Culture + HR priorities.

A few more details…

Scholastic stuff: I’ve got a Bachelor’s of Commerce with Specialization in Labour Relations (UBC) and a Masters in Organizational Leadership (Royal Roads).

I have certifications in Coaching, Behavioural Studies, Instructional Design, Advanced Facilitation/Consultation, Mental Health First Aid, and Emotional Intelligence.

Associations: I’m a member of the BC/Yukon chapter of Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR).

When I’m impactful: I feel like this.
